Rivers of Oz - Part 2 - The Hamilton Jet Expedition to Van Diemen's Land Part two of this Australian expedition begins in Tasmania but not before some much needed repair after their first visit to the top end of Australia. Duncan Storrier’s band of jet boat enthusiasts now explore the southern most state of the world’s largest Island. Rivers of Oz - the Hamilton Jet Expedition to Van Dieman’s Land explores the majestic beauty of the World Heritage Listed Franklyn National Park up the Gordon river past the mouth of the Franklyn river to within a stone’s throw of the Gordon dam. Breathtaking scenery hidden from so many, yet almost lost forever to proposed hydro electrical developments several decades ago. Old tree trunks broken and bent from floods, littered the Henty and Pieman rivers but that only challenged the adventurers. Add in a good helping of volcanic bedrock on the Archer and the jet boats were starting to look second hand. Cape York wasn’t so bad after all. At just eight kilometres, the Duck was short in distance but sharp in bedrock, leaving indelible marks on every hull. But the irony of this second expedition down under lay on the South Esk river, a second windscreen sacrificed to the trees on the final day in part two of Rivers of Oz.
